My personal project features a centaur character who pulls a bakery cart around town and sells her food to the locals. I have needed this asset in 3D for a long time (I really don’t want to redraw this thing by hand every time!) so I finally knuckled down and made it a reality. I also got to experiment with exporting it to different softwares like Sketchfab and Unreal Engine.

Concept Art

I wanted this design to feel friendly, yet practical. I took inspiration from gypsy wagons, station wagons, as well as a few amusement park environment props for that feeling of whimsy. After experimenting with color palettes, I landed on blue to balance with the character’s predominantly pink theme.

Final Renders

Below are my final renders! The final material spans eight 4K UDIM tiles. I went with two different rendering approaches in Arnold – a pretty PBR and a toon look that I can insert into my own drawings. I also plan to build out more environments for my project in Unreal, so I brought it into that software as a test.

A fun bakery cart I created for a personal project from concept to final render!
